PHILOSOPHY OF MUSIC

The philosophy of music belongs to the most neglected parts of contemporary aesthetics. Nonetheless, it has a tradition as long as it is rich. This course will explore that tradition from Plato to Adorno, in order to develop categories which can structure our philosophical understanding of music.
