Welcome to the web site of the North American Fichte Society. The NAFS consists primarily of scholars in North America devoted to the study of the German philosopher J. G. Fichte. Although this site is intended to complement the business of the NAFS, anyone with an interest in Fichte is surely to find useful information herein. Be sure to visit the archive of issues of Fichteana, our official newsletter. Each issue contains, among other things, conference announcements and an extensive bibliography of the latest Fichte publications. Brief announcementsProfessor Susan Hahn would like to announce the upcoming Von Kant bis Hegel conference to be held at Concordia University, October 11-12, 2008. Gabriel Gottlieb would like to announce Self and World, his new blog devoted to the latest news about studies in German idealism. Fichteana #16 is available on the archive page. Fichte's The System of Ethics, translated and edited by Daniel Breazeale and Günter Zöller, is now available in hardback and paperback from Cambridge University Press.
Fichte's 1804 lectures on the Wissenschaftslehre, translated and annotated by Walter E. Wright, are now available in hardback and paperback from the SUNY Press.
Curtis Bowman, the on-line editor, can be reached at this address. Time constraints dictate that responses are usually reserved for messages about NAFS business. Many thanks to the philosophy department at the University of Pennsylvania for hosting this site. Site traffic since August 21, 1999: This page last modified on February 15, 2008. |
